Places to visit
Sherborne, with its two castles, abbey and traditional high street, is a five minute drive from Hunter’s Moon. This bustling ancient town is great for shopping for visitors and locals alike.
Shaftesbury, famous for its ‘Hovis ad’ Gold Hill, is worthy of a wonder round.
Weymouth and Portland, which was venue for the 2012 Olympic sailing, is about half an hour’s drive from Hunter’s Moon. Here you can visit the sandy beaches, harbor and shops. You can also start to explore the Jurassic Coast from here – including Bridport, Lyme Regis and Charmouth.
We’re also very close to the beautiful town of Dorchester, famous for her connections with Thomas Hardy. It really is a picturesque town and well worth spending some time in.
Things to see
Anyone visiting the area should take a look at the Cerne Abbas Giant. This world-famous landmark, said to be good for fertility, is well worth a visit, as is the pretty village of Cerne Abbas itself, with has a wealth of tearooms and picture opportunities.
Also worth a visit is Minterne Garden. Home to the Churchill and Digby families, the house and ‘Himalayan’ gardens are both magnificent.
